Ancient biopolymer-based construction binder: Sticky rice


Dr. Chang has participated the production of a short-documentary film with EBS (Educational Broadcasting System, Korea), introducing the use of "sticky rice" for ancient building construction in China.


More than 1000 years ago, Chinese used sticky rice as an additive for gypsum-based mortars, where the famous "Great Wall" has also been discovered to use this "sticky-rice mortar" for its extension work in the Ming dynasty.


As shown, biopolymer-based soil treatment (BPST) is not a new but a re-discovered technology~!
